100 years of Nimmonsburg Methodist Church, part 2: Change and growth

This is Part 2 of a look at the 100-year history of Nimmonsburg Methodist Church. See Part 1 here. While fire may have destroyed the Nimmonsburg Methodist Church in 1922, it did not stop the church from holding services. A foundation was poured and services were held.  As construction continued, the Nimmonsburg School rented space while a new school building was also being built. In 1923, the new church building was dedicated, as the congregation continued to grow. As that congregation grew, there was a need to separate from the Chenango Bridge Methodist Church and circuit-riding ministers. In 1936, the split became official, and during the late 1930 s and through the 1940 s, the congregation became more involved in the growth of the church.
