Kuemper Girls Outlast East Sac on Saturday Afternoon

Kuemper won for the 12 th time in the last 14 meetings with East Sac County but it wasn’t easy on Saturday afternoon. The Knights used two runs, the second coming late in the 3 rd quarter to open up a tight game and held on for the win. Kuemper went on a 15-4 run in the 1 st half to build their largest lead of the game as 23-10 midway through the 2 nd quarter but East Sac wasn’t going away. CRB, SCC and Paton Churdan Girls Win Tuesday, AWV, ESC, Carroll and Kuemper Lost

The Knights played well on the road in the 1 st half as they built a lead at the halftime. Brooklyn Gifford had another great shooting night hitting 6-3’s in the game helping Kuemper lead 17-6 after the 1 st quarter. Things continued to go well in the 2 nd quarter and Kuemper went into the haltime up by 6. They held onto the lead into the 4 th quarter before a few late turnovers allowed St Albert to take the lead and hold onto it late. The Knights did have a shot to win or tie it late but it didn’t fall.

Kuemper Girls Play Well in Loss to Exira-EHK on Monday

Kuemper fought hard against the Class 1A 7 th ranked Spartans and showed there is no quit in this group of young ladies. The Knights trailed 11-4 midway through the 1 st quarter but answered that with a 12-0 run to go up 16-11. The Spartans responded and tied the game at 16 at the end of the 1 st quarter. After a Kuemper 3 to start the 2 nd quarter Exira-EHK took control with a 16-0 run to lead 32-19. The game was delayed for a while in the 2 nd quarter with the Spartans up 29-19 as an official had a medical situation. The Spartans led 40-26 at half and built it to 51-29 early in the 3

CRB, Audubon and Paton Churdan Girls win on Tuesday AWV, ESC, Kuemper, Carroll, GR Fall

  The Tigers suffered a couple of blows on Tuesday as they dropped a conference home game to fall to 3-3 overall and 1-3 in the Raccoon River Conference and they lost Ella Collison their leading scorer and rebounder early in the game to an injury. Carroll had tied the game at 4 and 8 before Collison left the game and Winterset began to take control. The Huskies closed the quarter on a 6-0 run and led 14-8 heading into quarter two. Things didn’t get better for Carroll. They struggled on the offensive end to get good looks against the zone defense and Winterset took over the backboards on both ends of the floor.
