Brookdale Water Challenge brings in more than 1,200 cases of water
The Macon-Bibb community donated more than 1,200 cases of water to the Brookdale Warming Center.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) The Macon-Bibb community donated more than 1,200 cases of water to the Brookdale Warming Center Tuesday.
Macon-Bibb Commissioner Al Tillman and Mayor Pro Tem Seth Clark started the Brookdale Water Challenge, asking people to take cases of water to the center and promising to match every case donated.
Commissioner Tillman says the challenge is about providing resources.
“People bring a lot of toiletries and different items, but today is a day for a water challenge,” Commissioner Tillman said. “And so this is huge. This is amazing, I’m just so excited about it.”

MACON, Ga. From busting blight and fighting crime to building affordable housing and boosting tourism, Mayor Lester Miller says the county is prioritizing how they re spending their first round of American Rescue Plan money.
The county is set to vote on how to distribute the first round of the funds a little over $18 million. Macon-Bibb is slated to see a total of $75 million in rescue funds overall.
The largest chunk of the first distribution of the county s Rescue Plan Money could go to one of the county s biggest priorities right now blight elimination.

County commissioners recently challenged people to donate water to the homeless shelter.
Mayor Pro tem Seth Clark and Commissioner Al Tillman said they would match every water bottle donated to the center.
Clark says the shelter has already helped hundreds of people.
That s 600 lives that this county has touched, 600 lives that our staff and volunteers have touched and saved, and we have to remember why this started. It started because two poor souls were lost on Christmas Day due to inclement weather, said Clark.
