A man and his 4-year-old granddaughter are dead after authorities said they were stabbed by a family member in Chickasha.
Dispatchers said they received a 911 hang up call Tuesday evening from a home in the 200 block of West Minnesota Avenue in Chickasha. Officers stopped by the home for a welfare check.
“They attempted to make contact with the homeowner to make sure everything was OK,” said Brook Arbeitman, OSBI Spokeswoman. “When they approached the door, they heard someone inside calling for help.”
Officers forced their way into the home. Inside were Leon Pye, 67, and his granddaughter Kaeos Yates, 4, both stabbed to death.

Investigators said a man with Down syndrome was gunned down inside his Garvin County home and now the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) is asking for tips that will help lead to an arrest.
Around 2 a.m. on April 12, 2020, 57-year-old Jimmy Amos was sleeping in his bedroom in the 800 block of North Severs Avenue in Wynnewood when gunfire erupted from the street in a drive-by shooting.
“He just told me. He said, ‘that man shot me,’” said Susie Dorman, Amos’ sister. “I said, ‘what man and he said, ‘a man looking in the window.’”
An investigation focused on the Norman City Council’s alleged Open Meeting Act violation may include some city staff due to the city charter’s procedures for setting council agendas.

An Oklahoma County Detention Center inmate was charged with first-degree murder by the Oklahoma County district attorney.
Shaquile Brown, 27, is accused of beating his cellmate, 40-year-old Brad Lane, to death with the metal part of a medical walking boot on Jan. 2.
The Oklahoma County district attorney expressed concern about the number of recent inmate deaths at the detention center. He asked the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation to help expose any deficiencies happening inside the jail.
Four inmate deaths in only a few weeks and Lane was one of them. An affidavit revealed what a happened the day Lane died.
