Local Eats: Zooroona Mediterranean Grill brings Arab culture and cuisine to Kalamazoo
Updated Feb 06, 2021;
KALAMAZOO, MI In Arabic, Zooroona means “come visit us,” and that’s exactly what owner Habib Mandwee and his staff have been waiting for the last three months.
Zooroona Mediterranean Grill reopened for indoor dining on Wednesday, Feb. 3, after months of missing the birthdays, weddings and family dinners the popular restaurant usually hosts. Mandwee said it broke his heart to have customers call in for takeout and then celebrate their anniversary with dinner in the parking lot.
“For 12 years, I’ve seen family connections and friendship and it’s all inspired out of that little place,” he said.
