Temporary camp idea gets pushback from Austin City Council

Temporary camp idea gets pushback from Austin City Council Austin City Council members briefed on two possible homeless sites Although the two sites in discussion are said to be temporary places for the homeless to stay, residents still voice their concerns. We want to be spending our resources for permanent housing opportunities and services for people to be successful in those but we also don’t have places, those strategies take longer and people need places to go now. So this is a dilemma, said Council member Kathie Tovo (District 9). Homeless Strategy Officer Dianna Grey told the council the sites will not be permanent. That is problematic for Council member Greg Casar (District 4).
