GPs say people are having to travel hundreds of kilometres just to get a 15 minute doctors consult, amid the doctors shortage that's seen half the country's clinics close their books to new patients.
They're worried about the thousands of people who are finding themselves locked out of the overloaded system.. and warning the government it's already "beyond a crisis".

Northland s first meningococcal death in more than two years, a six-year-old boy, has Kaikohe leaders pleading for more essential health services in their rohe (area).
The boy, from the Kaikohe area, was sent home from Tautoro School on February 12 by a teacher for being unwell, before being admitted to Bay of Islands Hospital and later to Whangārei Hospital.
