The missing soldier from Fort Drum has been found dead, Army officials said Sunday in a statement. A fellow soldier is in custody for his murder, according to authorities.
The investigation into the death of Corporal Hayden Harris, 20, an infantryman from 1st Squadron, 89th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, is ongoing, officials said.
Harris body was found in a wooded area off a cul-de-sac on Ross Road in Byram Township on Saturday afternoon, according to Sussex County First Assistant Prosecutor Gregory Mueller.
“We are devastated,” said Brigadier General Brett Funck, acting senior commander, Fort Drum & the 10th Mountain Division, in a statement.

WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - The Fort Drum soldier killed over the weekend was remembered Monday as kind and happy and taken far too soon.
The body of Hayden Harris, 20, was found Saturday in woods off a road in Byram Township, northern New Jersey. He was mostly covered by snow.
Harris had been shot to death.
Another Fort Drum soldier, Jamaal Mellish, 23, was in the Oneida County jail Monday. Authorities in New Jersey said they anticipate charging him with murder, after getting an official âcause of death.â

A fellow soldier from Fort Drum is in custody over the death of a missing army specialist whose body was found on Sunday in rural Sussex County, New Jersey.
Corporal Hayden Allen Harris, 20, had been missing since Thursday after arranging to meet someone for a vehicle transaction in Watertown.
According to the New York Times, Private Jamaal Mellish, 23, was arrested in Jefferson County over the weekend in connection with the death.
Mellish was expected to be charged with murder, kidnapping and possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, and will be extradited to New Jersey, according to a Sussex County prosecutor.

Speaking with Sussex County NJ First Assistant Prosecutor Gregory Mueller, Herald reporter Lori Comstock learned that the suspect who will be charged with the murder is one of Harrisâ fellow soldiers, 23 year old Jamaal Mellish.
