During the last few days of his term in office, Pence was on the local post to thank soldiers of the 10th Mountain Division and their families for their service.

Vice President Pence Praises Fort Drum’s 10th Mountain Division FORT DRUM, NY–President Trump deserves a lot of credit for building up the military over his four years, said Vice President and former Indiana Governor Mike Pence. Speaking at Fort Drum in New York Sunday, Pence said the administration received a “hollowed-out military” because of “devastating budget cuts” under Barack Obama. “Our troops hadn’t seen a significant pay raise in nearly a decade. There were reports that readiness was being impacted with a lack of equipment and supplies,” said Pence. Pence praised the performance of the Fort Drum’s 10th Mountain Division for their devotion since the 9/11 attacks.

(WWNY) - Fort Drum has secured its first batch of COVID-19 vaccines and is now administering them. This week, healthcare workers, first responders and leaders of the 10th Mountain Division and Garrison Command Team got their first dose. The very first person in line was Mary Paul, a nurse assigned to the Bowe COVID-19 treatment clinic. It was administered by the medics of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team. Recipients of the vaccine say they felt they were doing the responsible thing and they felt very well informed.
