morning with the damage of eastern north carolina, the jersey shore, the maryland shore, the delaware shore, good bet to see something similar because the intensity is not going to change all that much. at this point, it begins to translate into an extra tropical storm, like a big nor easter-type storm into new england. still strong gusts of wind but a different beast up there. thomas, this is one of the things that caught my eye. my computer updated the forecast rainfall totals and this is what people are nervous about. the entire storm. we are talking about this maroon color, six inches of rain. purple in the middle is up to ten inches of rain. so we re talking all of the major cities on i-95 from new york, to philadelphia, baltimore and d.c. six to ten inches of rain and makes people nervous with the base ms especially. living near rivers, too, a lot of flooding out of this storm. storm surge, where do you think it s the worst? new york city? there s a couple favorite spots.
the wrs of it is the sounds of eastern north carolina. that s where we re still expecting throughout the night tonight, probably six, maybe ten-foot storm surge causing significant damage and the waterfront communities in north carolina. up the coast, the coe noek rapids area, southern virginia, this area s very prone to storm surge flooding. they ll get theirs probably high tide cycle tomorrow into the early afternoon and getting the landfall, it still locks like long island to the east of there because of the storms coming north like this and then literally a t intersecting the coast and the water can t push sideways but pile up. so you re probably going to see the equivalent of category 2 surge of long island and rhode island we re concerned with. new york city still looks on backside of the storm, thomas. not worst-case scenario for storm surge. not the six to ten feet but a possibility of three to five in lower manhattan. all right.
