manhattan. manuel gallegos, back to you, anita. thank you. to winchester, virginia, tonight where a mother and stepfather are grieving after losing their two small children in a fire. it happened around 9:30 last night in the 200 block of summit avenue. that s where we find our surae chinn live in front of the house where tall happened. so sad. where it all happened, so sad. reporter: this community and neighborhood is in mourning after the loss of these two little boys. the children were up in the second floor bedroom. the youngest would have turned 5 next week. the family desperately tried to save them, but it was too late. god, don t let your kids go to bed without hugging them tonight, please. reporter: a message from a grieving grandfather of 4-year- old braden and 6-year-old landon. you can lose them so quick and it s just not worth. it. reporter: family friends say the boys step grandfather was woken up by the hallway smoke detector around 9:30 last ni
night. the mom was screaming trying to get them out and the boys were unresponsive. they had no idea what was going on until they re trying to get them out, but they never could. reporter: the fire marshal is still investigating a cause but say it s not suspicious. the family was renting this home and the fire marshal says if there is no smoke detector in each room, leave the kids bedroom door open at night. in winchester, virginia, surae chinn, 9 news now. damage from the fire estimated at $35,000. the cause is still under investigation. an unusual bank robbery today in georgetown caught on tape, but it s a familiar m.o. for investigators. reporter: i m scott broom with the fbi in washington where there s been yet another bank break-in, not through the front door, but through the wall. a bold burglar caught on camera at 2 a.m. today after breaking through walls in a failed attempt to get to an atm machine. the damage left behind at the m&t bank at 1420 wisconsin
