to get past that accident scene at lorton. further north, making your way across the mixing bowl up toward 395, you are looking good. no problems crossing the 14th street bridge. in maryland, we were working two accidents on the beltway beth on the outer loop, one after georgia avenue and then another after river road. those have both cleared out of the way and your delays there are easing. inbound 270, a bit of volume here as you head down towards clarksburg and then off and on from germantown past rockville to the split. no accidents reported just some heavier volume there. same story stepped in. the full senate is set to vote today on judge sonya sotomayor's nomination to the u.s. supreme court. democrats hae a majority of vote to confirm her without republican backing. sotomayor will replace justice david souter. she will become the fired third woman on the bench -- she will become the third woman on the bench and the first latina. governor kaine is telling set agencies to prepare for more budget cuts. the "washington post" reports an additional $700 million will need to be slashed this rear with that figure possibly going as high as one and a half billion dollars. kaine says that means there will be layoffs. he has is the a deadline of labor day to announce what will have to be cut. metro is getting more money to keep riders safe but this time it is not about trouble on the tracks. the transit agency is getting nine and a half million dollars in grant money from the department of homeland security for counterterrorism. metro is looking intlaunching the south. the jet stream will push up to the north. i think saturday it will be warm in the upper 80s but then sunday, monday be and like lie tuesday, our highs will be in the 90s and it will be hot of an earlier accident just after georgia avenue has cleared out and the wreck on the outer loop after river road is gone as well. we do have reports on the inner loop after old georgetown road after boulevard. look like the hov lane are moving nicely right here. as you continue up past 13 across the occoquan toward lorton, a slow trip because of a construction vehicle that is behind the cement that is what we did yesterday. we ended our four-day winning streak down 39 points on the dow. we were still able to hold that 1,000 figure on the s&p 500. that is an important level of support that we kind of keep an eye on. it is a psychological level if you will. we were able to do that. that i important. today, our futures were roughly flat and you can go either way. they are trading positively in europe. the banks are doing very well over there. that usually spills over here at the start of our day so we'll see how that goes. wave got a mixed bag of economic data yesterday. the adp employment report wasn't great. we got a ism index report on the service economy and that wasn't great. we still didn't have a big sell off. so that is somewhat positive. >> speaking of the psychological impact,cysco expecting a drop in profit. does that say anything about the economy at large. >> well being companies like that are really important because involved in almost everything corporate it departments are about. they are the plumbing between all of these network systems. so when they report a bad quarter, i a tell on the economy and how much corporate it departments are spending. john chambers, the ceo, he is very expected and people listen to what he has to say about the economy because he is so important. he said that it looks like this might be a tipping point for the company. and that they might be bottoming and moving forward may positive direction from here. i think that this will actually be seen as a positive when the bell rings here and news corp., our parent company last night after the bell, also another negative quarter but rupe are the murdoch, the chairman came out and said it likes we are seeing good signs of life if his words on the ad space. so it is as much about what you say going forward as what you've done this past quarter. >> can't let you go without talking quickly about cash for clunkers. too many folks are looking if i new car to get rid of the gas guzzler. >> yeah, now the question is f this $2 billion is passed and it probably will be, now, the auto dealerships, they got their demand in place, now they need to make sure they involving mayor adrian fenty and his black navigator happened here on broad branch road in northwest. however, the official police report obtained by fox 5 contradicts the version initially given out by the mayor's office. today, mayor talked about the accident for the first time. >> i'm glad no one in the accident we were in was hurt. >> reporter: a spokesman continues to maig ain the driver of another vehicle ran a stop sign and hit the mayor's navigator. however, a diagram on the report shows the mayor's city- issued suv as the striking vehicle shown here as vehicle number one. the report here also indicates it could not be determined whose vehicle was at fault so no charges were filed. today, the mayor again put plame on the other driver. >> at the scene, it and that the other driver may have run the stop sign. the police are investigating. they're talking to the other driver. i'm sure that investigation like all traffic accidents will continue. >> reporter: the report raises other problems over how the accident was handled. first, it was prepared by the mayor's own security detail, brian thompson, not a police officer. in addition, protocol dictates d.c. police take photographs when a d.c. government vehicle is involved in a crash. the report has no photos attached, only diagrams. it also indicates both drivers left the scene before it could be documented. finally, protocol also requires the report to contain the names of all of the passengers who were in each vehicle. report only lists the two drivers and differs from the mayor's version. >> there was the statement indicated that there was myself, my three kids and then a friend of the boys. >> robey chavez contact the 19- year-old bethesda driver would was driving the other vehicle involved but that driver did for the want to comment. the mayor may though. we're going to ask him about that and we'll get to your e- mails when the mayor joins us in just a few minutes at 7:00. metro just got a
