The Breezy Point City Council decided against approving one neighborhood s request to detach from the city and become part of Ideal Township in part due to errors in a petition they were given with 61 signatures on it.
The action came at the Monday, Feb. 1, regular council meeting.
The petition was submitted to the council by Brian McConville, one of the neighborhood s residents. The petition requested the detachment of 61 parcels located on the south side of Lake Ossawinnamakee Road.
The parcels cover 70 acres with 55 owners, and 54 of them provided signatures. McConville attended the meeting at city hall and presented the council with reasons for the petition. Among them, McConville and the petition argued that many of the services provided to those on the road were managed by Ideal Township.
