Talk About Clyde: Kehres competes in Jr Miss North America

Talk About Clyde: Kehres competes in Jr. Miss North America Jeanette Ricker Rae Ann Kehres, 14, who is Jr. Miss Ohio North America, placed as third runner up in competition for the title of Jr. Miss America recently held in Orlando, Florida. To maintain her title of Jr. Miss Ohio North America, Kehres must make monthly appearances and perform community service. Some of the reasons she enjoys participating in pageants, including wearing beautiful dresses, is to meet other girls from across the country. “It also gives me confidence and helps me improve my public speaking,” she said. The most difficult part may be the long road trips taken to competitions, she said, noting her two younger brothers went along. Next week she will compete in her fifth competition, The Nationals, in Nashville,Tennessee. In August she will pass her crown to the new Jr. Miss Ohio North America.

Development in protected DR/GR stopped by Bonita Springs City Council

A landowner’s plan to build a 700-home development in northeast Bonita Springs was stopped by the City Council during a Wednesday meeting. The 328-acre property sits between Citrus Park and Bonita Grande Mines north of Terry Street and east of Interstate 75. It is currently used as cattle grazing land is owned by Dennis and Tamara Swan under the business name 3HWA Land Holding LLC. The couple previously owned and operated Citrus Park until they sold it in 2019. Traffic, land and environmental engineers presented the project to City Council. They said the project is the Swans’ “vision to create a family-centered community to support the growing population of Bonita Springs,” said Brian Farrar, land asset management consultant.
