Hope Vibes co-founder wins humanitarian award for helping homeless

CHARLOTTE – Adrienne Threatt has received the 2021 Nish Jamgotch Jr. Humanitarian Award for her work helping the homeless community during the COVID-19 pandemic. Threatt and her husband, Emmanuel, founded Hope Vibes in 2017. The Charlotte-based nonprofit works to address homelessness through direct relief, research, innovation and advocacy. During the pandemic, shelters reached capacity and the need for services to assist the homeless population spiked. Hope Vibes responded by distributing essential supplies such as hygiene packs, tents and tarps. 8 must-watch movies that celebrate African filmmakers Share In celebration of Africa Day on Tuesday, May 25, a list of local and continental movies will make its way to a dedicated pop-up show on DStv channel 198. M-Net Movies Afro-Cinema will showcase and celebrate movies that reflect the countries’ cultural diversity, talent and resilience, and they will run until Sunday, May 30. Some exciting movies not to be missed include: Sunset in Makoko This Nollywood film takes viewers into one of the biggest floating slums in Africa, called Makoko. His court date was March 8. — WATERTOWN — Police report that they arrested Danielle Jette, 41, 1190 Litchfield Rd., Watertown at 1 p.m. March 3, for the charges of criminally negligent storage of a firearm, risk of injury to a minor and criminal liability for the acts of another/criminal possession of a firearm. The charges stem from the incident in which her children were shot and killed by Paul Ferguson in Watertown on December 3, 2019.  Ms. Jette was processed and released on a promise to appear in the Waterbury Superior Court at 9 a.m. March 16. Any further information will only be available through court documents after the arraignment.
