Manitou Springs Councilwoman Susan Wolbrueck has resigned, the city announced Wednesday, the second city official to step down from her position in three weeks.
In an April 4 resignation letter addressed to Mayor John Graham, Wolbrueck cited a family death as the reason for her resignation. I would like to remain as private as possible about my reasons for resignation, simply stating that my circumstances in my life have changed and that I no longer have the time to appropriately serve, she said in the letter.
Wolbrueck, first elected in 2017 to represent Manitou Springs’ first ward its southern portion didn t attend Tuesday’s City Council meeting and on Wednesday morning the city website listed a vacancy in Ward 1.

Manitou Springs police chief placed on administrative leave

MANITOU SPRINGS â The City of Manitou Springs announced Monday its police department has placed its chief of police on administrative leave.
The city said Brian Churchill was placed on leave effective Jan. 21 due to a personnel matter. During this time, Bill Otto will act as police chief.
There was no further information available regarding the matter.
Churchill was selected as chief of police in Sept. 2019. He has served in law enforcement since 1993. He was previously employed by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department as the Investigations and Administrative Lieutenant.
