CSPAN Congressional Democrats Hold Press Conference On Police Reform July 12, 2024

And chuck shumer held a News Conference to unveil Police Reform legislation. They were joined by fellow democratic members. This is one hour. Good morning, everyone. The justice in policing act establishes a bold, transformative vision of policing in america never again should the world be subjected to witnessing what we saw on the streets in minneapolis the slow murder of an individual by uniformed by a Uniformed Police officer. The world is witnessing the birth of a new movement in our country. This movement has now spread to many nations around the world, with thousands marching to register their horror and hearing the cry, i cant breathe. People marching to demand not just change, but transformative change that ends Police Brutality, ends racial profiling, and ends the practice of denying americans the right to have the ability to sue when they have been injured by an officer, that denies local jurisdictions the power to fire or prosecute offending officers. Black communities have

CSPAN2 U S Senate Sen Roy Blunt R-MO On The Death Of George Floyd Civil Unrest July 12, 2024

Today were in the senate floor at a time when once again, where attempting as a country to reconcile things that shouldve been reconciled long ago. The deaths of george floyd, breanna taylor, and others. Shocked the country, outrage do country, and three of them in a very short period of time. Front of again this division we have in our country. We look at the country and particularly we look at Law Enforcement in two different ways. The discussion i had with my sons, is different than the discussion of many of my africanamericanfa friends at, infectious virus i know all of my africanamerican friends in america talk to me about this app with their sons, with my cell i would say if you have trouble, but for Police Officer trated that is not the Police Officer discussion that africanamerican fathers often have with their sons. CSPAN2 Senate Hearing On Infrastructure Legislation Helping Economic Recovery July 12, 2024

Good morning. I call this hearing to order. Before i address the topic of todays hearing i want to say a few words about whats happening in communities across our country today. This is a time of great pain and unrestfor our nation. Americans are truly outraged by recent killings. Anyone who watched the video of the murder of george floyd has to be horrified and heartbroken. The resulting peaceful protests about police abuse against any american citizen are important and necessary our nation needs to listen to the voices of africanamericans about police brutality. Every american citizen deserves justice under the law. Some of the peacefulprotests have been hijacked by violent criminals. The destructing and looting and arson must stop. Those who commit these crimes dishonor the memory of george floyd and dishonor the cause for which the Peaceful Protesters first took to the streets. Now in a moment of americans to come together to listen and to heal. The goal of this hearing today is to

CSPAN2 U S Senate Senator Cory Booker On The Death Of George Floyd Civil Unrest July 12, 2024

Feeling the torrent of emotions i could say was the first time i felt like this. And i want to give my remarks in a different way because the nays we are hearing shouted on streets, george floyd, amman avery, rhianna taylor, so many nays of people we did not know as a nation. They were not household nays. Their nays now are mixed into nays that we have e heard throughout my entire lifetime. The nays mixed with horror and sadness and tragedy does not speak to their beauty i just want to say ahmaud was a man he was 25 years old he was murdered he went out jogging or he was hunted by two white men who walked free for weeks after killing him. This man, this child of god, his loved ones talked about his humanity they said he was a loving son, brother, and uncured at nephew a cousin of friend he was humbled, he was kind, he was well mannered, he always made sure he never departed from his loved ones without saying the words without saying i love you. Rhianna taylor, before we knew her name,
