Huskies Hang on for Win on Senior Night
The Owatonna High School baseball team closed out their home regular season schedule with a thrilling 4-3 victory over New Ulm on Senior Night. OHS broke a 3-3 tie with a run on a wild pitch in the bottom of the sixth. The Huskies preserved that lead by throwing out a runner at home in the top of the seventh.
The Eagles left two runners on base in their final at bat with Huskies Payton Beyer on the mound. He pitched the final two innings, striking out four. Brayden Truelson tossed the first five frames, allowing six hits while striking out six and not walking a batter.
Huskies Pull Away From Falcons; Seykora Fans Ten
Owatonna and Faribault were locked in a 3-3 draw midway through their game at Bell Field in Faribault Thursday night. The Huskies put together a massive six-run fifth inning to win 12-3 and stay in contention in the Big Nine title chase. Matt Seykora kept the Falcons grounded by striking out ten, while giving up just four hits and one earned run.
Grant Actherkirch got hit by a pitch to open the decisive inning. Pinch hitter Ayden Walter walked. Brayden Truelson moved them into scoring position with a sacrifice bunt. A long fly ball hit by Nick Wiliams was dropped allowing one run to score.
Huskies Softball Uses Long Ball & Great Pitching to Beat Panthers
Owatonna s Parris Hovden threw a one-hitter and the Huskies hit three homeruns to get a 4-0 win at Rochester Century Tuesday afternoon. Hovden fanned seven and walked two. Coach Jeremy Moran said, Parris had good control of her pitches tonight and did a really good job attacking the Century hitters.
The Huskies were limited to six hits, but made each one count, three of those six hits were big hits. Samantha Bogen started off our scoring with a solo home run in the fourth inning. Then in the fifth, (Katelyn) Bentz and (Ana) Laduke hit back-to-back home runs to give us a 4-0 lead.
Dramatic, Late Saves Preserve One-Goal Owatonna Lacrosse Win
Owatonna s defense was strong all game against Northfield in a boys lacrosse game Thursday night. With Northfield within a goal late in the fourth quarter, junior goalie for the Huskies Korban Stricklin was called upon to make a pair of monster saves to preserve a 10-9 victory.
The Raiders had a good open look from their right wing by Isak Johnson that Korban stopped. The Raiders best chance came as Matthew Bell sprinted straight up the middle, caught a pass from behind the net and took a shot at point-blank range that Stricklin caught.
