Bray Lions Club distributed some €8,500 generated by the annual New Year’s Day charity sea swim among four local charities at a ceremony in The Martello, Bray, on Thursday, February 22.
The Bray Lions Club annual New Year’s swim, which featured on RTÉ’s evening news on New Year’s Day, with the added bonus of a soundtrack by the now famous bagpipe player, raised some €6,500 from the donations gathered thus far , but with sponsorship money still to come in, the final tally is likely to come closer to €9,000, the club has announced.
In the boot of the car parked at Tesco on Vevay Road, in Bray, there seems to be enough food for a large picnic, including what look like your typical party packs, painstakingly put together with little snacks, fruit and a bag of crisps, all contained inside a see-through bag like the ones you get at the airport when you’re flying off somewhere nice on holiday.
