Print Lisa Robinson, WBAL-TV To say virtual learning has been difficult for both parents and students is an understatement, but for parents trying to juggle work and school, finding help is imperative. The Y in Central Maryland created a program that helps parents work and children learn. The Y Academic Support Center on Druid Hill Avenue in west Baltimore serves 700 students throughout Central Maryland in Baltimore City and Baltimore, Anne Arundel, Howard, Harford, and Carroll counties. Students can be dropped off as early as 7 a.m. They stay with us until as late as 6 p.m. Their parents drop them off with their devices for school. We kind of augment our schedule here to be aligned with their school schedules to ensure they can log into all of their synchronous learning and instruction, said Derryck Fletcher, senior vice president of the Y in Central Maryland.
