Anderson Ranch Arts Center’s new culinary team takes the “think global, act local” adage to heart.
Rotating menus at the on-campus cafe might feature flavors from Oaxaca, where Food and Beverage Director Rob Ittner spent several months during the pandemic. Diners may taste dishes with Japanese influences (chef Daniel Leon has an extensive background in the cuisine) or they might nosh Venezuelan bites inspired by Leon’s hispanic roots.
The international artist community that flocks to the Snowmass Village arts campus each summer will see their own homes reflected in the menu, too.
Leon aims to channel “some of the flavors that remind us of where we come from,” he said in a June 7 joint interview with Ittner at the cafe.

Late on Tuesday night, federal judge Reed O’Connor, of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas, Fort Worth Division, issued a Temporary Restraining Order blocking distribution by the Small Business Administration of $28.6 billion dollars in grants to businesses in the restaurant industry.
On May 13, 2021, Greer’s Ranch Cafe and owner Phillip Greer filed a class-action lawsuit against the Small Business Administration claiming that the aid program was being administered in an unconstitutional manner because the program was designed by the Biden Administration to give priority to restaurant businesses owned by racial minorities and women.
Cafe Owner Seeks to Temporarily Block Biden Admin From Prioritizing Certain Groups for Grants
A Texas cafe owner is asking a federal court to temporarily block the Small Business Administration (SBA) from prioritizing its grants for certain business owners.
Philip Greer, the owner of Greer’s Ranch Cafe, has filed a temporary restraining order seeking to immediately stop the SBA from prioritizing women, veterans, and socially and economically disadvantaged business owners for its $28.6 billion Restaurant Revitalization Fund.
Greer argued in a motion, filed by America First Legal (AFL), the SBA has already received 147,000 applications from women, veterans, and socially and economically disadvantaged business owners who requested a total of $29 billion in relief funds. This means the funds will be depleted before other groups can be considered for relief.
