The petitioner, representing Punjamon Illam, a traditional Brahmin household in Kerala argued that the negative portrayal of a character in the film could potentially harm the family's reputation.
Elaborating on the decision to create Bramayugam as a black and white film, Mammootty explained that while this technique may not hold relevance in today's age, it serves to emphasise the era in which the film is set.
The dispute arose when the head of Punjamon Illam, a traditional Brahmin household in Kerala with a reported history of around 200 years, moved the Kerala HC, citing objections to the portrayal of Mammootty's character Kunjumon Potty.
