The Central Govt informed the Delhi High Court that the accidental firing of a BrahMos combat missile into Pakistan last year affected the relationship with its neighboring country along with a loss of Rs 24 crore to the state exchequer, according to a report.
The accidental firing of a BrahMos combat missile into Pakistan in March last year, led to a loss of Rs 24 crore, the Union Government told the Delhi High Court.
The government also defended its decision to fire three Indian Air Force employees one of whom has moved the High Court against termination of his service.
'If indeed India has nothing to hide, it must accept Pakistan's demand for a joint probe in the spirit of transparency,' Pakistan's Foreign Office has said.
A statement by the Indian Air Force said that deviation from the Standard Operating Procedures by three officers led to the accidental firing of the missile.
