JOHNSTOWN It was not a typical budget year for the city, with last-minute amendments and cuts to city Water Board proposals.
The Common Council on Monday night at City Hall unanimously adopted the city’s amended 2021 budget.
Mayor Vern Jackson said Tuesday that with the late changes, the tentative figures in the budget basically remained the same. The now-adopted $13.6 million city spending plan for 2021 contains a roughly 2 percent increase in the tax rate.
The council Monday night approved amendments to the final budget to give two city positions less salary increases than what Jackson had sought. The amendments overrode the mayor’s veto of two earlier amendments approved by the council.
