Despite advice against it, City Council will vote on lowering speed on Greenville Loop Road Greenville Loop Road speed limit By WECT Staff | March 16, 2021 at 6:38 AM EDT - Updated March 16 at 7:09 AM Earlier this month City Council heard suggestions from Denys Vielkanowitz, the city’s traffic engineer who did suggest making some improvements for safety to the road, however, advised against dropping the speed limits. Still, Councilman Charlie Rivenbark has sponsored an ordinance that would reduce the speed limit from 40 mph to 35 mph along the route, and bring it from 30 mph to 25 mph in the Bradley Creek school zone. According to Vielkanowitz, the 40 mph speed limit is appropriate based on traffic studies conducted in the area.

It’s another back-to-school moment at Bradley Creek Elementary as students used to taking turns in the classroom finally get to learn together. “I was excited to see all my friends again,” said Sydney Jarrett, a 5th grader. “I haven’t seen them since last year.” Like all elementary schools, there are now precautions before kids hit the books. Those include a temperature check and a quick COVID survey about symptoms and possible exposure.
