Bradfords Building Supplies has taken its first delivery of Tarmac bagged cement loaded on green Pallet LOOP pallets into its Glastonbury branch, kicking off the first end-to-end trial of a new circular economy pallet reuse scheme for the UK construction sector.

Since the first lockdown last April, the Worshipful Company of Builders’ Merchants has welcomed 11 new Liverymen and Freemen.
Despite the challenges of a pandemic year, the Livery Company has, like many others, adapted to virtual life with all admissions and installations over the last 12 months taking place via Zoom. With membership by invitation only, the Livery now has a very healthy 206 active Liverymen and 28 Freemen.
Last July, the Company held its first ever virtual admission ceremony with new Freemen Neil Carter, Longwater Construction Supplies; James Parlato, Browns Builders’ Merchants; Tony Pontin, Selco; John Ryszkowski, ACO Technologies; and Paul Beaman, Keyline.
TWO new additions to a construction industry trade body representing Swindon members will help increase eco-friendly housing in the area. The Builders Merchants Federation has elected two business leaders as its latest members: Travis Perkins plc chief operating officer Frank Elkins and Bradfords Building Supplies Ltd s group finance director Lee Harwood. The appointments come as the BMF prepares to play a key role in shaping the future of greener housing in Swindon and across the UK. Chairman Richard Hill said: “We are delighted to welcome two excellent representatives of our broad membership to the board. “The range of experience they offer will be extremely valuable as we move forward post-pandemic towards a low-carbon economy.”
