[Dan Soul/106.1 The Goat.] The Lloydminster Sport Riders are putting up a ghost bike for another year, to serve as an important reminder for drivers and motorcyclists to share the road and keep each other safe. The motorcycle statue was first put up last year, not only as a reminder to be road aware of bikes but as a sobering reminder of and a way to honour fallen riders as well. With this month marking Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month in Alberta, it will stand at the 59 Avenue-25 Street intersection.

(Pixabay) SaskTel is putting out a warning for their customers to be aware of scam calls they’ve been hearing about recently.  In a release on their support page, the provincial telecommunications company says they’ve seen an increase in the number of scam calls originating from international locations.  These calls, SaskTel says, are usually made using auto-dialers allowing the scammers to call many people at once, and can impact people and communications providers all across the country. Lloydminster RCMP Sargent Brad Mouland says while there haven’t been reports of this scam specifically in Lloydminster, nuisance calls like this are a year-round concern they address.

Lloydminster RCMP says helicopters around are part of planned operation, no active threat to public SHARE ON: The Lloydminster RCMP has provided an explanation for residents who’ve seen their helicopters flying around. Sergeant Brad Mouland says the helicopters are part of an ongoing police operation being conducted in and around the City of Lloydminster. Over the next week, residents will see more officers around, and also the RCMP Air Services helicopter flying as well. The RCMP says there is no active or specific threats to the public as part of this operation. They add that they will be reporting more information on this initiative at a later date.
