Car journeys on Bracknell Forest s roads fell by a quarter last year The number of miles covered by cars in Bracknell Forest plummeted by a quarter last year with travel impacted by the coronavirus lockdown, figures show. Last year saw the fewest miles driven on the area s roads by motorists since 1993, when records began. But any respite in traffic levels will soon be over, says the RAC, which predicts a busy summer on the roads as restrictions are eased. Data from the Department for Transport shows cars and taxis covered an estimated 305 million miles on Bracknell Forest s roads during 2020. That was 26% fewer than in 2019 when 414 million miles were covered.
Crowthorne North no longer has the highest rate of new cases for the week ending February 9. College Town overtook this with 639.1 cases per 100,000 people. Despite cases in the city continuing to drop, Paul Bettison, Bracknell Forests council leader, has urged people to continue adhering to the lockdown rules if we want to see this decline continuing. He said: I want to say a big thank you to everyone who has been following the stay at home rules – you are making a difference in our fight against COVID-19 transmission. Very sadly, some people continue to flout the rules and risk their own health and that of their loved ones.
