Sustainable Beef Pt 2 - AG INFORMATION NETWORK OF THE WEST

Sustainable Beef Pt 2 I’m Bob Larson. Sustainability in agriculture is a term we hear more and more often these days and it’s something more consumers appear to be interested in as well. And when it comes to protein, Cattlemen’s Beef Board CEO Greg Hanes says with all the misinformation out there, it’s a conversation the beef industry welcomes … HANES … “Because the false information is becoming so common in media that it’s becoming believed. It’s the more you repeat a lie, the truer it becomes. So, I think it’s important that we’re countering that and really showing what the industry’s doing on that positive side and you have the facts on, you know, how much greenhouse gases are really being emitted by all of this.”

Sustainable Beef Pt 3 - AG INFORMATION NETWORK OF THE WEST

Sustainable Beef Pt 3 I’m Bob Larson. The beef industry wants to tell its story, the REAL story about all the great things they’ve been doing over the past several decades to improve the way beef is produced and to clear up the false information being pushed in the media. The fact the U.S. is producing 60% more beef with 60% fewer head of cattle, Cattlemen’s Beef Board Chair Jared Brackett says is only part of the story … BRACKETT … “Well, it’s not just more production it’s better product. I mean, it you look at what that product was 50 years ago compared to what that product is today, it’s a higher percentage of choice and prime, it’s less select. It’s just a better product all the way around and that’s what our consumers are demanding.”

Sustainable Beef Pt 1 - AG INFORMATION NETWORK OF THE WEST

Sustainable Beef Pt 1 I’m Bob Larson. Beef, it’s what’s for dinner … might be your favorite commercial slogan, but it’s also a slogan that triggers a lot of finger pointing towards the cattle industry for things like being bad for us and for the environment. But, Cattlemen’s Beef Board Chair Jared Brackett says he loves it when the conversation turns to “sustainability” in the beef industry … BRACKETT … “Because I think it allows us to continue to tell our story, which we don’t always do a good job of it. If you look at the number of multi-generational farms and ranches that, to me, just demonstrates how sustainable our operations really are.”

CBB on Beef Checkoff Pt 3 - AG INFORMATION NETWORK OF THE WEST

CBB on Beef Checkoff Pt 3 Wednesday Mar 17th, 2021 With today’s Fruit Grower Report, I’m Bob Larson. In a recent Gallup Poll, Farming and Agriculture have moved, for the first time, to the top spot of industries viewed most positively, followed by the grocery and restaurant industries at 2 and 3. Besides making it clear just how ESSENTIAL the food supply chain is, National Grange president, Betsy Huber says this survey creates an opportunity … HUBER … “I think we need to continue telling the story, capitalize on this poll that’s pretty clear picture of the high regard that consumers hold farmers and anything to do with food.”
