For those of you who have come to a number of our sessions. We are promised and we are promising each other that well do more in the coming seasons. We have a topic today that we think is one of the best that weve come up with, its a neglected civil war story. Because of the focus on shermans march through georgia. Theres a little less attention on shermans other march, which followed the march through georgia. Take a look at this scowling man in a fantastic coat, as we begin talking about him. Im going to start with john who as you heard has written two wonderful books about william sherman, and i think we need to know how you can do it in a few minutes his family, his psyche, tell us something about this fellow in the double breasted uniform coat. This picture that you see was taken of sherman and he didnt want t
Capital accumulation in the middle. One of the important steps that your administration signed into law was just making it easier and more automatic to save in your 401k plan. Now the majority of Companies Default people into savings and default into auto escalation in saving policies. Next step is take nearly half the population that doesnt have savings accounts at work and give them access to automatic ira. Thats an idea that came out of the Heritage Foundation working together with brooking. Theres a lot we can do to focus on a positive story to create well. For most families, homes are principle source of wealth. We have a bipartisan efforts to put people in houses from the tax codes and regulatory. How do we go back look at housing policy in a more reasonable way . We want people in homes. Its an important asset for most americans. How do we rejuvenate the Housing Market without creating the same we had before . First of all we should be reforming Housing Finance system, should be

You are absolutely right. Five times since the end of world war ii a party has had the white house for two consecutive terms. President reagans Approval Ratings back in 1988 were very good. Democrats in their infinite wisdom nominated michael dukakis, and the rest is history. For 2016, there are couple of things we dont know. History argues that republicans ought to win the presidency in 2016. But the big question is, will they have repaired their brand . Will they have repaired some their problems with minority voters, young voters, women voters, selfdescribed moderate voters . I would argue that some of those groups just basically stayed home. It will be interesting to watch to see whether latino turnout dropped disproportionally, for example, being upset that immigration hasnt gone through and all that. So if republicans address their brand challenges, it will obviously make a difference. Obviously also whoever the republican nominee will be. On the other hand, what kind of shape is
Brown, even though registered democrats in maryland outnumber republicans 21. Early on, polls show brown leading by double digits. Lets listen to what he is saying about the stunning upset. That was nothing compared to the challenges that lie ahead. Weve got a lot of work to do. Our state economy is in real trouble. We focused on that for years. Now weve got to roll up our sleeves and get to work on trying to turn our state around. And were going to do that, as weve said, forever in a bipartisan fashion. Doesnt matter to me if somebodys a republican or a democrat. Im going to be the governor for all marylanders. Were going to put together a bipartisan administration. Were going to work as closely as we can with the people on both sides of the aisle. As weve committed to do throughout this entire campaign. I was pleased to receive a very gracious phone call this morning from governor omalley who pledged his full cooperation in the transfer of power and in the transition. He invited my w
