Elva Bailey Sill passed away on Feb. 6 surrounded by her family. She was born in Minneapolis to Ruth and Charles Bailey on July 22, 1933. Eventually, her family moved to Duluth, MN. She graduated from Central High School and then went on to Stephen’s College and the University of MN where she met her “knight in shining armor”, Mitch. They married in 1955. Together they had 5 children. Their life in Duluth was idyllic with grandparents, extended family, a cabin on Lake Vermillion and skiing in Vail. As a mother, she had a loving personal and private relationship with each of her 5 children. She was a constant for us and put us first. We were proud to have her as our mother. Throughout her life, design played an important role. From her beautifully curated homes to her hand painted needlepoint canvases, impeccably sewn clothing, gorgeous knitted sweaters, and her newest love, painting. Everything she touched was perfectly and meticulously rendered, including her fabulous cooking. S
