Residents of the town of Foresthill in Placer County can begin returning home as evacuation orders were downgraded to warnings for the Mosquito Fire, officials said Monday afternoon.
Good news for some residents near the Mosquito Fire. The El Dorado County Sheriff s Office and fire officials have changed portions of Georgetown from mandatory evacuations to an evacuation warning status. Effective immediately, people living in the following areas may begin repopulation:

Containment has grown on the Mosquito Fire burning in both Placer and El Dorado County as crews create stronger perimeter lines and a system brings much-needed rain to the fire area.
The strategy for Sunday is to use the forecast colder temperatures and good humidity to help build containment lines around the blaze. The rain event however is not expected to be a "season-ending event," Cal Fire said.
