Containment has grown on the Mosquito Fire burning in both Placer and El Dorado County as crews create stronger perimeter lines and a system brings much-needed rain to the fire area.
The strategy for Sunday is to use the forecast colder temperatures and good humidity to help build containment lines around the blaze. The rain event however is not expected to be a "season-ending event," Cal Fire said.
Crews expect gusty winds on Saturday to complicate efforts on the eastern flank of the Mosquito Fire, with the state's firefighting agency predicting the potential for more spot fires that could jump containment lines.
The containment for the Mosquito Fire burning in Placer and El Dorado counties continues to hold steady despite challenging fire conditions earlier in the week.
