casey stegall joins us from texas. it sounds like the suspect s wife is in jail as well. yes. it s possible. we know more people are behind bars as well as you heard the sheriff saying that was a little bit of a surprise to us. although there was some indication last night that if they find out people were aiding and abetting, hiding this criminal as this manhunt was underway that those people could face charges so that s possible as well so we just got that update from officials over in liberty county. they just wrapped that up. all of the a agencies involved also taking a little bit of a victory lap. now that the manhunt is officially over. and with little fanfare, i might add. the 38-year-old alleged gunman didn t put up a fight. francisco oropesa found hiding under a closet in a pile of clothes not far from the crime scene itself. the suspect will appear before a court later today by video conference from jail. this all came to an end after a tip was called in and then
what more do we know about his condition? reporter: well, at this point, jose, it appears the senate minority leader is still in the hospital, recovering from this fall. his office has not given us an update outside of what they told us shortly after the news broke of this situation that he was dealing with last night. of course, mcconnell is 81 years old, he had health scares in the past, heart surgery, he fell in 2019 and broke his shoulder. so he has dealt with health issues and gotten past them before. but in this situation, it is a new issue that has cropped up and we re still waiting to get a status check as to how long he could possibly be out, what caused him to fall during this dinner last night here in washington. and how long this could potentially impact him being away from the united states senate. all of that are the questions we re still contining to ask, jose. in other news from capitol hill, a top health official said a significant data breach exposed per
lawmakers, they argue that they know what is driving the deadly crisis, and that it s social media. so today a group of bipartisan senators caught, and schatz, murphy, brit unveiled a bill that would establish an age of 13 for social media use, calling it a common sense bipartisan approach to stop the suffering. the legislation would require tech companies to get parents consent before creating accounts for users under the age of 18. this federal move follows utah last month, becoming the first state to require consent from parents before minors joined the social media platform. that s the most aggressive yet to shield kids from potential dangers online. it s not just legislators who have been active. in january the seattle public school district filed suit against parent companies of pit snapchat, tiktok, saying they had all potentially contributed to these mental health to file suit against social media companies. at the time d.a. told cnn, it is no different and opioid
