he s all over the place. specifically to muddy the waters or he doesn t know and he s going out and jackpoting with this word salad. how does that benefit the president? i think the one thing that is consistent is what does the president s surrogates do. tries to discredit mueller. tries to cast doubt on the report. tries to get half the country to say this is a partisan witch hunt. it s investigate things that aren t really crimes or contradictions. they don t care about any of it as long as they can sustain their own support, their own political support against the mueller report or the subsequent mueller indictments or both which are likely to come soon. this is entirely a political strategy. none of it matters legally. whatever happens in court will happen. this is an attempt to raise as many doubts as possible. it was working for a while. we looked at the polls over the first part of 2018. mueller s numbers were slipping.
they, they must not have anything because people out there are saying right on. that is pretty much the argument you have heard from people like mitch mcconnell, too. they need to ramp it up, they have midterms coming up, if you had anything, they say, there would be evidence out there of collusion or obstruction. the other interesting thing is he sort of turned on bop mueller. a lot of things happened since then, like the raid on michael cohen s offices and the latest with the cfo talking about the trump corporation. at this point what is interesting is that even though his rhetoric is the same, the idea that he is compromising,
negotiations regarding an interview with president. joining me now. a texas democrat. congressman, thank you for joining me. the president says he s willing to talk to special counsel. do you believe him? well, i hope he is. that s actually good news. i suspect that robert mueller wants to talk to him about a bunch of things that the american people want to know about. issues about obstruction of justice, money who interfered with the 2016 election. i was heartened to hear the president is willing to speak to bop mueller. he said he s much of a commi. no. you re right. it remains to be seen whether the president actually will speak voluntarily or offer to speak. or whether he gets issued a subpoena. but however it happens. president should meet with bob
on all of those parallel tracks now, and there s going to be a lot more bop mueller likes surprises. there s going to be more of them just as the white house was shocked by the flynn plea. michael, for almost a year now we ve talked about donald trump s loyalty to michael flynn. it was i believe january 26th when then acting attorney general sally yates went to the white house and said you have to be weary of michael flynn. you might be blackmailed by russians. it wasn t until mid february that he was ultimately fired. now we learned that jared kushner directed michael flynn to call ambassador sergey kislyak to discus sanctions. ultimately where do you think the president s loyalty sits with flynn or with kushner? well, i think it would ultimately rest with donald trump. that s a fascinating question, boris, but when you consider flynn and kushner, i don t think there s that much separation
like the sound effects? right. welcome back. time for the lid. bring in the panel. thanks for sticking with us. ask you about what our last guest said to us how she expects the president will be interviewed as part of this investigation into russia potential collusion at some point? addressing the problem of the slow news day. when the president gets look, this whole thing has always been the challenge of this investigation. the drip, drip, drip element of this and always seems to be something new. always on a friday, by the way. we ll see. when that happens, big news. and bottom line? go ahead, hard to imagine that not happening as a matter of diligence. you re going to need to if you are investigating the issue of a collusion in the russia campaign and bop mueller you don t want to interview him now before the gather all of your facts, but you definitely don t want to even if you re going to close up shop with not another indictment in the works, you don t want to look li
