WEST BURLINGTON The view in West Burlington will change when a weathered old water tank comes down, replaced by a new, elevated water tower expected to be completed in June 2022.
Boomerang Corp., of Anamosa, has started work on the nearly $4.9 million tower project at the West Burlington Public Works Department, 2000 W. Mount Pleasant St.
The new tower will replace the old faded blue, rust-splattered, ground storage tank at 123 S. Gear Ave., across from Deery Brothers, that the city stopped using a few months ago.
The water tower project includes a 500,000-gallon composite-style water tower, booster station, about 620 square yards of paving, 4,470 linear feet of water main, 910 linear feet of storm sewer, and 590 linear feet of sanitary force main, according to information City Clerk Kelly Fry provided.
