Boca Raton election: Incumbents Drucker, Mayotte coast to easy wins

BOCA RATON Voters returned two incumbents to the Boca Raton City Council by comfortable margins Tuesday night. In the Seat C contest, Yvette Drucker bested Constance Scott and two other candidates. She got a bit more than 50 percent of the vote, with all precincts reporting. Drucker was appointed over 31 other candidates in October to fill the remainder of Jeremy Rodgers’ term after he went overseas on a military deployment. Drucker is a longtime community volunteer who has served on the boards of organizations such as the Boca Raton Children’s Museum and the Boca Raton Historical Society. She also was chair of the Boca Raton Education Task Force. She stressed in her campaign her ability to work collaboratively with other council members.

Boca Raton election: Six candidates battle for two council seats

BOCA RATON   Boca Raton voters will choose from among six candidates in two nonpartisan city council races March 9, and decide the fate of two charter amendments.   Council members are elected at large to three-year terms. They may serve no more than two consecutive terms. The salary is $28,000 annually, plus a $450 monthly car allowance. A look at the candidates and charter amendments: Boca Raton election: Seat C  Yvette Drucker: Drucker, 45, was appointed over 31 other applicants in October to fill the seat of Jeremy Rodgers, who is on military deployment and whose term expires March 31. She is married with two children and earned a bachelor’s degree in international relations from Florida International University.
