On-campus public health protocols update

Dear University Community, As we welcome the first group of future Bobcats for Bobcat Student Orientation to our Athens Campus this week, we are increasingly excited as we move toward a robust fall semester. We’re also excited to announce a few revisions to our on-campus public health campus protocols for all students, faculty, staff and visitors. Changes in our protocols follow shifts in guidance at the state level as well as from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). As always, our decisions are informed by national and state science-based guidance, paired with local data on actual disease spread on our campuses and in surrounding communities.

To help make enjoying all uptown has to offer a bit easier, here s a guide on a few safe eating options in Athens: A major part of living on Ohio University’s campus is eating in the dining halls. OU has a registered dietitian and nutrition educator, Angie Bohyer. If one has a food allergy or a special diet need, they can contact her at culinarydietitian@ohio.edu.

Mental Health Matters O hio University’s Counseling and Psychological Services offers numerous mental health services for new and existing students. Mental health services are available to students enrolled at OU’s Athens campus. CPS offers many different options to help fit students’ needs. If a student is unsure what type of services they are interested in, CPS suggests calling 740-593-1616 and setting up an initial consultation for more details. “For many students, it is the first time they are living away from home, from their supportive familiar communities,” Paul Castelino, Ph.D., psychologist and director of CPS, said in an email. “Some students struggle to adjust to college life and independent living.
