According to Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz, On, December 5, 2020, deputies received a complaint in regards to an armed robbery at the Lucky s 190 Truck Stop in Opelousas, La. During the investigation they say they determined that a man wearing a blue sweatshirt with gray trim around the neck area, green camouflage pants, brown cap and grey tennis shoes allegedly entered the store brandishing a firearm and demanded money from an employee.

Church Point man arrested on Negligent Homicide charge after child drowns in bathtub St. Landry Parish Sheriff s Office Nicholas Ducote and last updated 2021-03-17 10:18:47-04 A Church Point man has been arrested on a charge of Negligent Homicide after the accidental drowning death of his 9 month old child. 30-year-old Nicholas Lee Ducote was arrested on March 15, 2021 in relation to that drowning which occurred earlier this month. According to Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz, on March 4, 2021, detectives with the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office received a complaint in regards to a 9 month old drowning victim. After an investigation by detectives, it was determined that Ducote placed his 9 month old and 2 year old children in the bathtub and allowed them to play with bath toys while he folded clothes. He then exited the bathroom and played a video game on the television for a short amount of time.

St. Landry Parish deputies now certified in additional less lethal use of force options St. Landry Parish Sheriff s Office and last updated 2021-02-22 11:36:35-05 St. Landry Parish Sheriff s deputies are now certified in three less-lethal options following a month-long training on use of force. The Sheriff s Office says the additional training tools will help the deputies further resolve conflicts that might arise before a firearm is used. “I saw a need to reallocate funds and grants to purchase additional options that are now available and issue them to my deputies for a less-than-lethal way to resolve a conflict,” said Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz.
