While both the champion from the early â70s, Gunsynd, and current star Rockhampton horse Absolut Artie are incomparable on an achievement level, they both share a common thread - courage with a capital âCâ.
Gunsynd (gr g 1967 Sunset Hue -Woodie Wonder) was an elite thoroughbred, winning 29 races, many at GR 1 level, and is an Australian Hall of Fame racehorse inductee.
In 1973, the year he retired, the song
The Goondiwindi Grey was released about him and sung by Tex Morton.
At first glance it seemed like a cheeky owner had snuck two X-rated horse names past Racing Australia, but the governing body insists we re just pronouncing them wrong. Punters were having a giggle after a pair of nags named Lovin Deqoque and Get On Deqoque appeared in separate races at a meeting at Daegon Racecourse north of Brisbane on Tuesday. The horses, both trained by Darryl Ward and ridden by jockey Bobby El-Issa, finished fourth and second in their respective races but it was their unusual monikers which caught the attention of racing fans and even made headlines overseas. Interesting how the #1 in Trial 8 and #5 in Trial 9 got through the system when named, Steve Ridge tweeted.
Racing fans were in stitches when they noticed two horses with some very suggestive names competing in a race.

While the horses took out fourth place and second place in races 8 and 9, they attracted attention for all the wrong reasons
Racing Australia insisted the punters were just pronouncing the horse names wrong and was forced to spell out the correct way to say them.
