ANGELINA COUNTY, Texas (KTRE) - Angelina County Commissioner Bobby Cheshire was indicted today on a third-degree felony charge.
Visiting prosecutor Rob Freyer told KTRE that Cheshire received an indictment of Continuous Family Violence, which could result in a prison sentence of between two and 10 years, as well as a maximum fine of $10,000.
Four additional misdemeanor charges are pending.
According to an arrest affidavit KTRE obtained in August of 2019, Angelina County deputies responded to Cheshire’s home the night of Aug. 20 after a 911 call which investigators say was immediately disconnected. The affidavit states operators called the number back and a woman said everything was “okay for now” but the woman sounded “shaky.” The affidavit states a deputy went to the home and met with the woman

LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - Angelina County Commissioner Bobby Cheshire had a bond hearing on Thursday.
Cheshire is facing charges of third-degree felony continuous violence against a family member, misdemeanor-A assault causing bodily injury of a family member and misdemeanor-A interfering with emergency request for assistance.
During a bond hearing May 6, Cheshire’s bond was denied and he remains in the county jail until a Grand Jury convenes. Rob Freyer with the Montgomery County DA’s Office will be the special prosecutor in Cheshire’s case.

LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - An Angelina County commissioner remains in jail tonight. On Monday, precinct four commissioner Bobby Cheshire surrendered his bond.
He had been out of jail on bond for a previous arrest on a charge of felony violence against a family member from 2019. An attorney who is now working to remove Cheshire from his position explained what happened.
Lufkin attorney Robert Flournoy has filed a lawsuit petition against Angelina County’s precinct 4 commissioner Bobby Cheshire.
