Courtesy of Classic Hotels & Resorts The Laguna Beach City Council unanimously voted Tuesday to increase funding for its COVID-19 relief package to $2 million, ramping up programs to assist local businesses, workers, and residents enduring the pandemic’s economic fallout. The Council’s latest appropriation is $600,000 for the LB CARES Hotel Program, which will grant hoteliers up to 50% of the transient occupancy tax they collected from overnight guests during the Fourth Quarter of 2020. The City Council approved a minimum grant of $5,000 and a maximum of $100,000 per hotel the vast majority of Laguna Beach’s 27 will qualify for some amount.

Laguna Covid-19 Matching Grant Relief Fund for Laguna Beach Residents and Employees Launches Today By LB Indy Staff To provide direct financial assistance to individuals and employees living or working in Laguna Beach that have been impacted by COVID-19, the Laguna Beach City Council set aside a $300,000 matching grant for Phase 2 of the Laguna Covid-19 Relief Fund  as part of the City’s $1.4 million in economic assistance for restaurants, bars, retail & community. Starting Jan.11, the Laguna Covid-19 Relief Fund, administered by the Laguna Beach Community Foundation (LBCF), will provide Emergency Assistance Mini-Grants up to a maximum of $1,000 per household to individuals living or working in Laguna Beach with emphasis on those in the restaurant, hospitality, retail, and personal services industries. All donations made to the Laguna Covid-19 Relief Fund are tax deductible and will be matched by the City of Laguna Beach up to $300,000. \The fund has already pre-fundraised
