The Boaz Police Department is looking for a Colorado murder suspect who was in the city earlier this week.
Stephen Cruz Sandoval was in Boaz visiting family on Monday and was supposed to appear for trial on homicide charges in Colorado Spring, CO., on Tuesday, according to Boaz police.
Sandoval is a solder at Fort Carson in Colorado and accused of shooting his teenage girlfriend’s step-father multiple times, according to ABC affiliate KRDO. The news station says Sandoval fled after the shooting and was arrested in Texas, with authorities believing he may have been coming to Alabama. (Read more HERE)
Boaz police are seeking the public s help locating a man who d been slated for trial Tuesday on homicide charges in Colorado Springs, according to Chief Josh Gaskin.
Stephen Cruz Sandoval, 22, was visiting family Monday in Boaz; he left Monday night and has not been seen since, Gaskin said in a Facebook post. A warrant has been issued on the homicide charge by authorities in Colorado Springs.
He may be driving a silver Honda CR-V, 1997 to 2001 model.
Anyone with information about Sandoval is asked to direct message the Boaz Police Department Facebook page or call the department.
According to published news reports from the time of the crime, Sandoval is accused of a shooting in Fountain, Colorado, in February 2020. He was arrested a day later, about five hours away in Borger, Texas, where authorities say he had fled with a 17-year-old girl.
