According to a report by WKBW-TV, Town officials have decided to cancel the 4th of July fireworks show for this year due to continued worries surrounding the lingering effects of COVID-19 in Western New York.
This marks the 2nd year in a row that Amherst has cancelled the popular fireworks show that takes place near Lake Lasalle, which is on the University at Buffalo North Campus.
The decision, which was confirmed to WKBW by Town of Amherst Chief of Staff Joe McMahon, was followed by a commitment that the fireworks show that typically draws thousands of people from around the county would return in 2022.
