manich@leaderherald.com JOHNSTOWN Fulton County’s recycling revenue increased by $112,749 last year from the previous year partially due to an upswing in recycling markets, officials heard recently. County Department of Solid Waste Director David Rhodes noted the figure during his review of his department’s 2020 annual report presented at the Board of Supervisors’ Public Works Committee meeting. Rhodes said recycling revenue was up by $112,749 partly due to boosted recycling markets. The recycling market has been down in recent years. He said the jump is also due to an increase in the bulk metal quantities and price paid per ton. He said there was $75,524 more in bulk metal revenue than the previous year.

LifeNet relocation talks continue | News, Sports, Jobs

manich@leaderherald.com JOHNSTOWN Talks continue about the possible relocation of the Air Methods/LifeNet EMS air transport operation from Glen in Montgomery County o the Fulton County Airport, according to Fulton County Planning Director Scott Henze. Henze discussed the potential project during his recent activities report before the Board of Supervisors’ Public Works Committee. “I think it’s going to be a great asset to the airport,” Henze said of LifeNet. Henze said engineer Travis Mitchell of Environmental Design Partnership in Clifton Park expressed an interest in taking the lead on construction of a new hangar at the Fulton County Airport off Route 67 in the town of Johnstown. He said the hangar would accommodate LifeNet, as well as provide additional hangar space for Mitchell’s own personal use.

Ready for landfill expansion project | News, Sports, Jobs

manich@leaderherald.com JOHNSTOWN Fulton County is ready to commence engineering for the county landfill’s planned massive vertical expansion project. Department of Solid Waste Director David Rhodes informed the Board of Supervisors’ Public Works Committee recently that he is ready to distribute requests for proposal for engineering the project. The committee authorized the RFP, which the full board will review Monday. Proposals would be due Feb. 24, with the county awarding a bid in March. “We’d like to get that going as soon as possible,” Rhodes said. Engineering for the landfill expansion is included in the county’s 2021 Capital Plan, an estimated $80,000 expenditure. The RFP was developed by Rhodes.
