Sojourners Club met for their first meeting of 2023-2024. Pictured is Blytha Ellis of the Adair County Historical Society and member of Sojourners, who gave a program on how the Sojourners Club came to existence in 1897. Eventually the club was responsible for the first public library in Kirksville, which now is the Adair County Library. The building that now houses the Adair County Historical Society was originally the Sojourners Library.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held for the newly renovated county courthouse in downtown Kirksville on Saturday, July 15. Presiding Commissioner Mark Shahan welcomed the audience to the venue followed by a presentation on the history of the building by Blytha Ellis, president of the Adair County Historical Society.
The life of Kirksville businessman Charles Rorabaugh (1886-1919) was celebrated during Founder s Day festivities held on Saturday, May 13 at Forest-Llewellyn Cemetery in Kirksville. A tombstone in the name of Rorabaugh and his mother, Nancy Ann (Clarkson) Rorabaugh (1847-1924), was donated by the Adair County Historical Society and Friends of the Forest-Llewellyn Cemetery Committee. An unveiling ceremony was held at the cemetery.
