Amazon planning $300M distribution center in Charlton

Amazon is moving forward with a plan for a prospective distribution center and warehouse in Charlton, which the company estimates will include a $300-million investment and produce at least 1,000 new jobs, developers and Brad Griggs, senior manager for economic development at the online retailer, told selectmen Tuesday night. The Charlton Board of Selectmen, who hosted a special meeting for a project introduction, did not know until the meeting the proposed tenant for the facility at 52 Sturbridge Road was Amazon. The project is being developed by Bluewater Property Group of Pennsylvania and New York, as well as Bay Colony Properties of Waltham.

Amazon to build large warehouse on Sturbridge Road in Charlton

Amazon to build large warehouse on Sturbridge Road in Charlton Debbie LaPlaca CHARLTON – Amazon plans to build a 1 million-square-foot warehouse on about 100 acres at 53 Sturbridge Road. Bluewater Property Group and Bay Colony Property Group described the project to selectmen in April. But until a selectemen s meeting Tuesday, the name of the would-be tenant was not publicly confirmed. In April, the lawyer representing the project, Mark Donahue of Fletcher and Tilton, said  the project, for an unnamed tenant, would be a $300 to $400 million investment that would bring more than 1,000 full-time jobs to the area.   At the time, he said the project hinged on the town amending its zoning bylaw to increase the 50-foot maximum building height in the business enterprise park zone to 110 feet. He said the tenant uses specialized technology for material handling which requires greater building heights and multiple stories.

Second Amazon distribution center gains approvals in the Hudson Valley

By Mid Hudson News -www.midhudsonnews.com Mar 9, 2021 EAST FISHKILL – A second Amazon distribution center will be under construction shortly at the old IBM East Fishkill site. The 631,000-square-foot facility will replace an existing IBM building with demolition to begin within days, said Town Supervisor Nicholas D’Alessandro. The project will bring with it a number of benefits, he said. “It means jobs, it means tax revenue, it means more people spending money in our local businesses, it means people buying homes here,” he said. “It’s a wonderful thing for Southern Dutchess and really the whole region.” The Bluewater Property Group, which will construct the building and lease it to Amazon, is also developing the one-million-square-foot distribution center for the online retailer in Montgomery.

Amazon warehouse approved for former IBM west campus in East Fishkill

Amazon warehouse approved for former IBM west campus in East Fishkill For decades, the sprawling technology campus south of John Jay High School was known as a home for one of the world s most recognizable brands. The East Fishkill property is still known as the former IBM campus, more than six years after the company announced it would transfer control of the facility to another company, and other, smaller businesses have made sections of the property their own home. Soon, though, the western half of the land is likely to become synonymous with a different, perhaps even more famous brand: Amazon.
