CHARLTON – Amazon plans to build a 1 million-square-foot warehouse on about 100 acres at 53 Sturbridge Road.
Bluewater Property Group and Bay Colony Property Group described the project to selectmen in April. But until a selectemen s meeting Tuesday, the name of the would-be tenant was not publicly confirmed.
In April, the lawyer representing the project, Mark Donahue of Fletcher and Tilton, said the project, for an unnamed tenant, would be a $300 to $400 million investment that would bring more than 1,000 full-time jobs to the area.
At the time, he said the project hinged on the town amending its zoning bylaw to increase the 50-foot maximum building height in the business enterprise park zone to 110 feet. He said the tenant uses specialized technology for material handling which requires greater building heights and multiple stories.
