Hudson Valley Film Commission Director Laurent Rejto said the availability of local sound stages are a game-changer for attracting productions, noting the East Fishkill proposal would be different from any other in the region. There s no question the area can use a state of the art soundstage with 40-foot ceilings and all the necessities that come with film and television production, he said.
The possible arrival of a studio is the latest step in the industry s rapid expansion into the Mid Hudson Valley in general, and Dutchess specifically.
The industry s economic impact for the region set records in 2019, which the industry is on pace to top this year, according to Rejto. The second quarter of this year, which officially ended Wednesday, is likely to be the biggest quarter in the commission s history once quantified totals are received, he said.

SpaceX remains as committed as ever to its breakneck pace of testing at its Boca Chica, Texas, launch facilities. Starship SN15, which conducted the first fully successful 10-kilometer test flight of the program with a clean, intact landing, was moved back to the launch pad on May 11, 2021, just under a week after that successful May 5 flight.
Observers of the program initially speculated it might be rolled back up Highway 4 to the build facility for inspections and refurbishment, but on May 14, after a few days of high wind delays, SpaceX has put it on launch pad B in a move toward a potential second flight.

SpaceX’s Starship SN15 landed safely after its high-altitude test flight, successfully performing a landing-flip maneuver to softly touch down on a nearby pad.
The experimental test vehicle successfully launched at about 6:24 p.m. EDT (22:24 UTC) May 5, 2021, from SpaceX’s Boca Chica launch facility in South Texas. This came a week after the company secured a rare triple Federal Aviation Administration approval for three Starship flights.
“Starship landing nominal!” SpaceX CEO Elon Musk tweeted soon after the landing.

Starship SN15 was by all public accounts set to fly Tuesday, May 4, with road closures, Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFRs), and all expected FAA paperwork beleived to be in place.
EDITORS UPDATE (Wed, May 5, 2021):
SpaceX decided to call off the attempt, made clear mid-day by the cancellation of the State Road 4 road closure. Weather was cited as the main concern, due to storms being forecast for the area after sunset, which would have complicated potential recovery operations, as reported by local Boca Chica Village residents in contact with SpaceX during the evacuation.
