Town and Bristol City played out their second 0-0 draw of the season at Portman Road with the Blues unlucky not to take all three points. Jack Colback hit the post in the second half, then in the final minute the Blues thought that Robins keeper Dean Gerken, the man of the match by some distance, had punched Connor Wickham’s long throw into his own net only for referee Nigel Miller to decide the former Colchester man hadn’t got a touch.
Blues boss Paul Jewell was still waiting to hear whether all his international players had come through their games unscathed at Thursday’s press conference ahead of Saturday’s game at Barnsley. Linchpin defender Gareth McAuley, Darren O’Dea and Connor Wickham were back and OK, but Hungarian pair Tamás Priskin and Márton Fülöp, and Canadian Jaime Peters had not yet returned to Portman Road.
Out-of-favour Blues striker Tamás Priskin is a £250,000 target of Millwall, according to reports in Hungary. The 25-year-old, who is also interesting Russian second division leaders Alania Vladikavkaz, is out of contract at the end of the season.
Town boss Mick McCarthy is hoping to see his side push up the table over the course of the next week with Saturday’s visit to Charlton followed swiftly by home games against Blackburn Rovers and Huddersfield.
